Taxes

It's that time of year where everyone is frantically getting all thier forms together for this beautiful--please not the sarcasm there--time of year we call tax season. Mike has just finished filling out all our forms and has the federal taxes all set and ready to go in their envelope--state tax forms are next. Mike had our 1040 all filled out and all I had to do was sign it and it would be done. How hard is it to miss the bold letters of spouces signature? Apparently it's harder to miss that you would think, because I missed it! :-0 How could a newly wed miss the word spouce in bold black letters? lol Well, it's an adventure and Mike is so patient with me--I offered to recopy the forms, but I think he thought better of it and did it himself. lol I'm so blessed with a husband that goes that extra mile for me in anything and doesn't freak out when I sign in the wrong spot--especially when hours of work have gone in to get all the figures correct and in the proper place. Happy taxes!!!

Gym Membership

Good news...Mike and I got a gym membership!!!! We locked in a stellar deal of $10 per month and after 3 months it will go down to $8!!! Wowee! I'm pretty excited about this new adventure of fitness. I've been lazy when it has come to working out and I'm definitly ready for that to change. Mike was telling me on the way to the gym that he was really tired...we got about 8 hours of sleep so I was like why are you tired? He told me that due to a lack of working out he was feeling more lethargic, which makes total sense. When you don't use your body and exercise it, it goes into blah mode--I can definately say that mine has been in blah mode. Well, it's time to wake it up and get it working properly! I do my best to cook healthy meals and we don't keep much junk food around the house. You won't find cookies, chips, soda and othe things like that here on a normal basis and I like that about us. As much as I love sweets, I know that the best way for me to not eat them is to not have them. Therefore I'm not fighting the temptations to snack/munch on these unhealthy and empty calories.

Not only do we have our membership now, but I also got some cute workout clothes. For my birthday Mike's dad had gotten me some sweaters and they were too big, so we went shopping last week to return the sweaters and get something new. We hadn't gotten our membership yet, but we knew that was in the plan, so I picked out a cute pair of capri pants--best thing about them is that they are reversible--and a top to go with them. I'm all set and ready to go! As I write about my cute, new workout clothes a question comes to my mind. Why is it that in our culture we feel as if we must look "cute" in order to go to the gym to get healthy and in shape? Goodness, talk about living in a materialistic and self focused world! I'll go in a t-shirt or an old tank top with some shorts or old pair of workout pants. I'm certainly not there to impress anyone, I'm there to for new and healthy habits. But I will admit, I am excited about my new workout attire. :)

Testing pictures

I thought I would post some pictures of our condo and all the work that Mike and I did before we got married. We started these house projects 6 weeks before we got married!!! Crazy! I must give the majority of the credit to Mike as I was being a support most of the time.

The first pictures are our kitchen. The light fixture that is above the table was one that Mike installed. Then you can see a bit how our kitchen is arranged and the best appliances in our kitchen: the pink kitchen aide and my Mary Kay dual coffee pots--one of my prizes from MK.

Next you enter our downstairs bathroom painted a beautiful green called rejuvenate. The light fixture is one that Mike installed as well as the white vanity. We had the tile put in and it looks absolutely beautiful. We received the 3 tier shelves from Mike's dad as a wedding present and it looks fabulous in our powder room!

The next shots are of our living room and our upstairs bathroom which is pretty plain, but we did add the cupboard above the toilet. It helps so much with organization! The last two pictures are our guest room: burnt orange with metallic copper sponge painted over and our room painted in passion blue. The fan that you see in our room was also added by Mike before we got married. We have one more fan to go in our living room downstairs which will be great for summer! I hope you enjoyed the brief tour through our home!

Hello!

Well, I thought I'd give blogging a try on here as I have not been nearly as successful on other methods. I guess I get too distracted by all the other things I can do. One thing I'm excited is to be able to post pictures in my blog--haven't been able to do that in others, or at least I couldn't figure it out. lol

It's time for me to post this and get dinner on the table--I just pulled stuffed bell peppers out of the oven, yummy! I know it's late for dinner, but Mike has class on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights and in order to eat together, it means we eat kinda late. I'm hoping that will be one of the things that will change once he is done with school. :-) With that said, I'm outta here!
